Hardware (BYOD or Purchase Through Us)

Curio is designed to work with all Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3S, and Meta Quest 3 headsets regardless of where they are purchased.

For our educational partners looking for the lowest price, we are an official Meta partner and can facilitate purchases directly. Unlike CDW, SHI, and others, we provide these headsets (with the same 1-year Meta warranty) to educational institutions at the wholesale price we pay, with no markup:

  • Meta Quest 3S (Curio’s recommendation):  $269
  • Meta Quest 3:     $449   (CDW  $583  |  SHI  $640)

Please note: Prices listed above apply to payments made via check or ACH. Credit card and Procurement Card (P-Card) payments will incur an additional 3.5% processing fee.

Optional Hardware Add-Ons

  • Extended Battery Strap: Dramatically improve comfort while wearing the headset and boost battery life to almost 5 hours for $70 per headset. We highly recommend this add-on.
  • Meta’s Horizon Managed Services (HMS): Meta’s Horizon Managed Services (HMS) is the Mobile Device Management (MDM) platform Meta provides for free. It allows you to manage multiple headsets from a central dashboard, and we usually recommend it for schools or organizations deploying a larger number of devices.
  • Logitech’s MX Ink – MR Stylus: Optional enhancement for your Curio experience. Think of it as an iPad‑type stylus—but highly accurate in 3D and designed specifically for certain apps (including Curio) on Meta Quest headsets. Cost: $129.99 per stylus.
  • Storage Carts: If you’re looking for a locking bin that holds up to 5 headsets, the Curio team created and uses a fantastic Do-It-Yourself option that costs less than $75 at any local hardware store. You can learn how to easily build it in our Virtual Reality Implementation Guide (VRIG) in the section titled “Headset Storage Case.”  If you’re looking for a charging cart, Contact Us for our recommendations.

Free Implementation & Professional Development

We make it easy to get VR to your students and stay supported – it’s our mission after all!

  • Onboarding and training provided through our comprehensive, collaborative Virtual Reality Implementation Guide (VRIG)
  • Personalized Zoom sessions available to walk your team through any setup or instructional planning.
  • We provide full IT support for both setup and troubleshooting, whether it’s related to headset functionality or network configuration.

We’re here to make sure your rollout is smooth and your team feels confident using Curio (and VR in general) from day one.

Free Grant Writing Assistance

If you’re applying for a grant, let us know. We offer free custom AI tools designed to help educators craft compelling proposals. Our team supports you through every step—from initial brainstorming to final submission, and throughout the implementation and management of the grant.

Research

If you’re interested in researching the effectiveness of virtual reality (VR) in education, we’d love to support your work. In many cases, this comes at no cost—especially if you’re able to use our software as-is.

If your project involves enhancements to our software, development of new content, changes to our data infrastructure, or the creation of customized reports, we typically subsidize 80% of those one-time development costs. In addition, Curio covers all ongoing costs.

One of our core goals is to increase the volume and visibility of research on VR’s impact in education. Visit our VR/AR Benefits and Studies  page to explore the list we host for the VR community.

VR Content Development

Curio Developer Platform

If you’re a college instructor leading a course in game design, computer science, Unity, 3D modeling, or related fields—and want your students to build real VR content—Curio offers a unique opportunity.

By building on Curio, your students can skip over 80-90% of the typical development time, allowing them to create high-quality, classroom-ready VR experiences within just 1–2 semesters. These projects don’t sit on a shelf—they are immediately used by learners across the globe.

We make your students’ portfolio item(s) available to the world through our platform, and we’re happy to feature your institution, instructors, and students however you prefer. Need a project idea for your students and/or a subject matter expert?  Don’t worry, we have plenty!

Home For Existing Content

Already have great VR content that needs a good home or a desire to share with the world?  We’ll integrate, host, and maintain it inside of the Curio app, free of charge. Your work joins a global collection of free educational tools, supporting learners worldwide…and you get all of the credit.

Custom VR Content – 80% subsidized

Have a big idea but need help bringing it to life? Whether it’s a faculty concept, department-wide initiative, or a district-driven project, we can turn your vision into a fully functional VR experience. Unlike web or mobile apps, VR content is far more complex and expensive to build from scratch. But with Curio, most of that heavy lifting is already done. Our platform provides the foundational systems—so you’re not starting from zero. In most cases, Curio covers 80% of the initial development costs. You only fund the remaining ~20%, and we handle everything else: hosting, updates, support, and long-term maintenance are all included, free of charge. You get a high-quality, scalable VR experience with full credit to your institution—and your content can reach not just your students, but learners around the world. You bring the idea. We help build it, fund it, and deliver it.
