Hardware (Devices) - Wholesale Pricing
The free Curio XR app works on three VR headsets: the Meta Quest 2, the Meta Quest 3, and the Meta Quest 3S. These headsets are wireless and self-contained, meaning you don’t need a computer or laptop to run Curio. All you need is overnight charging and a basic Wi-Fi connection (Curio is optimized to use very little bandwidth).
You can purchase these headsets anywhere. That said, many schools asked if we could help them get headsets at a lower price. So we became an authorized Meta reseller, allowing us to offer the wholesale price directly educational institutions (with no markup whatsoever).
The only purchase required is the hardware itself (a one-time cost). Once you have the devices, everything else—our app, support, training, and updates—is completely free. No subscriptions. No licenses. No ongoing software costs.
If you’re interested in headsets but don’t currently have the budget, head over to our Funding & Grants page for a regularly updated list of opportunities. If you’re working on a grant application, we’re happy to help—and even have specialized A.I. tools to assist with the writing. And if you think the Curio XR app (plus a headset or two) could help demonstrate the value to decision-makers, explore our Headset Lending Program.

Meta Quest 2
No longer sold by Meta but fully supported by Curio’s free app.

Meta Quest 3S
Includes a 1-year warranty.

Meta Quest 3
Includes a 1-year warranty.
All Quest headsets sold through institutional resellers (Curio, CDW, SHI, etc.) include a Meta 1-year warranty. Consumer sales (Amazon, Walmart, etc.) also include a 1-year warranty. The Curio app is free no matter where you acquire your headsets.
For educational institutions looking for the lowest price, we are an official Meta partner and can facilitate purchases directly. Unlike CDW, SHI, and others, we provide these headsets (with the same 1-year Meta warranty) to educational institutions at the wholesale price we pay, with no markup:
Please note: Shipping is included in the prices above. Prices above apply to payments made via check or ACH; credit card and Procurement Card (P-Card) payments will incur an additional 3.5% processing fee. There is no sales tax because schools are tax-exempt under state laws (Sales Tax Exemption Certificates).
Optional Hardware Add-Ons
- Extended Battery Strap: Dramatically improve comfort while wearing the headset and boost battery life to almost 5 hours for $70 per headset. We highly recommend this add-on.
- Meta’s Horizon Managed Services (HMS): Meta’s Horizon Managed Services (HMS) is the Mobile Device Management (MDM) platform Meta provides for free. It allows you to manage multiple headsets from a central dashboard, and we usually recommend it for schools or organizations deploying a larger number of devices.
- Logitech’s MX Ink – MR Stylus: Optional enhancement for your Curio experience. Think of it as an iPad‑type stylus—but highly accurate in 3D and designed specifically for certain apps (including Curio) on Meta Quest headsets. Cost: $129.99 per stylus.
- Storage Carts: If you’re looking for a locking bin that holds up to 5 headsets, the Curio team created and uses a fantastic Do-It-Yourself option that costs less than $75 at any local hardware store. You can learn how to easily build it in our Virtual Reality Implementation Guide (VRIG) in the section titled “Headset Storage Case.” If you’re looking for a charging cart, Contact Us for our recommendations.
